The Mother City with Table Mountain as backdrop has been a welcome landmark to
weary travellers since the early days of Dutch settlement. Today, this
modern, cosmopolitan city offers something to everyone and is worth
exploring. Stay at some of the finest hotels and restaurants in the world,
get a birds eye view from the top of
Table Mountain, shop at Greenmarket
Square, take a boat trip from the
V&A Waterfront to
Robben Island, or
just relax on the lovely beaches at Clifton or Camps Bay. Any visit to
Cape Town must include a trip to Cape Point, the tip of Africa. The Cape
of Good Hope Nature reserve (proclaimed in 1939) has recently been
included in the new
Cape Peninsula National Park, which covers over 22000
hectares. Here you will find a combination of dramatic seascapes and
soaring cliffs, antelope such as the rare mountain zebra and bontebok, as
well as tremendously varied flora. The baboon families are a joy to watch
- but do not be tempted to feed them.
